Ash Wednesday is the official beginning of the important spiritual season of Lent. Mark the beginning of this season for reflection, renewal and preparation for resurrection with the traditional “imposition of ashes.” Individual imposition of ashes will be available at MCC Portland beginning at 12 noon throughout the afternoon. A brief meditation service including imposition of ashes will be held from 5:30-6PM.
Do you want a NON-traditional way of observing Ash Wednesday? This year we will again partner with our neighboring Central Lutheran Church on March 5th to “come out” as a progressive person of faith on Ash Wednesday. Join us midday between 11:45AM-1:00PM at Holliday Park (between the Lloyd Center and MAX station) to share conversation and blessing with people who may never step through the doors of a church.
