In celebration of marriage equality in Oregon, MCC Portland “opens the doors of the church” to witness and bless marriages!

WHEN:  Next Sunday, June 1, 12:00 Noon ‘til 2:00PM

MCC has LONG recognized the equality of all marriages – even before all were recognized as “legal.”  MCC Founder, Rev. Troy Perry, conducted the first public same-sex wedding in the US in 1969;  Rev. Austin Amerine conducted the first in Portland at MCC Portland in 1976!   Next Sunday, June 1, we will continue the proud MCC tradition of recognizing and blessing marriages with the added joy of newly secured marriage equality in Oregon.  Plan to stay after morning worship to celebrate and support those getting married.  Inform and invite friends and couples who may be interested.

DETAILS FOR COUPLES:

Couples will be married on a “first come, first wed” basis, in brief, individual ceremonies

  • Bring marriage license paperwork
  • Bring two (2) official witnesses
  • Invite friends and family to celebrate
  • Normal wedding fees are waived on June 1.  A financial donation is welcome.

As it always has, MCC Portland will celebrate marriage equality far beyond June 1st.  For more information or to schedule a wedding, contact our church office at 503-281-8868 or admin@mccportland.com.
